Welcome to the website of the Power and Energy Analysis and Research Laboratory (PEARL). Our research group currently comprises seven senior researchers and four Ph.D. student. We are located at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Industriales at Universidad de Castilla – La Mancha, Ciudad Real, Spain.
PEARL’s research interests are in the fields of control, operation, planning, and economics of power systems, both in centralized and competitive frameworks. Within the research context of PEARL, we are specialized in the modeling of the operation of generating units; in the application of sophisticated optimization techniques; in the development of market-clearing procedures; in the decision making of producers, retailers, and consumers; and in the analysis of vulnerability of power systems under multiple contingencies.
