25% of Renewable Energy Lost

25% of the renewable energy generated this summer in Ciudad Real was lost due to grid constraints.

Producing clean energy isn’t enough — the electricity must actually reach the grid.

Professor Raquel García, from the PEARL research group at UCLM, explains it clearly in La Tribuna de Ciudad Real:

“There are solar plants operating at full capacity that are forced to stop because there’s no capacity to evacuate the energy. Installing panels isn’t enough — the grid can’t keep up.”

It is unacceptable that we produce clean energy and still lose 1 out of every 4 kWh due to infrastructure bottlenecks.
